You will be back in your shoes in 2-3 weeks after most bunions & hammertoes procedures.
You can also enjoy what Beaver Valley Foot Clinic’s office has to offer:
No matter what your foot problem may be, it can be treated by Dr. Christina Teimouri and her staff.
If bunions are mild, they can often be treated by wearing wider shoes or by placing padding in your shoe. However, if the problem is severe, or if you are diabetic, you can schedule a simple, one-hour outpatient procedure that can have you back into your shoes within three to six weeks. You’ll be able to walk immediately, but will have to wear a special shoe for several weeks.
If you think that you’re suffering from bunions, call Beaver Valley Foot Clinic today. Don’t walk around in pain—while painful, bunions can be treated through simple surgery, and you’ll be up and walking within days!
Both can be treated by removing the conditions that cause corns and calluses on the feet, which will reduce the friction that is causing your skin to harden.
It’s important to remember that corns and calluses are not usually harmful (although those with diabetes should let their doctors know if skin begins to thicken on the foot). However, more severe corns and calluses may become infected, destroy healthy tissue, or affect the movement of your foot. If that occurs, they’ll need to be removed.
With your doctor’s help, corns and calluses can be controlled. There are certain medications that remove the dead skin that make up most corns and calluses. However, you should never try to cut or shave them off yourself—corns and calluses can become badly infected. Give Beaver Valley Foot Clinic a call today to arrange an appointment. Our podiatrists can treat the skin problems that affect your feet.
Diabetes is a serious metabolic disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin, which causes high blood glucose levels.
It afflicts about 16 million Americans and can cause very serious long-term complications, including kidney damage, cardiovascular disease, nerve damage, eye damage, osteoporosis, and foot damage.
Sometimes, hammertoes can be treated using home remedies, like using corn pads or wearing wider shoes that allow your toes extra room. However, if the damage becomes severe, hammertoes can be fixed with a simple, minimally invasive, 15-minute office procedure. The toe’s contracted tendons are reduced, the toe is straightened, and an artificial joint may be used to stabilize the toe.
If you’re forming hammertoes, call Beaver Valley Foot Clinic so that you can discuss your options with Dr. Christina. This common foot problem can be fixed quickly and you’ll be walking normally within no time.
Heel pain problems, in some cases, can be resolved through traditional conservative therapies like orthotics, exercise, ice, physical therapy, cortisone injections, or anti-inflammatory medications. However, sometimes heel pain can’t be resolved through these remedies.
What is the Procedure? How Does It Work?
We use the most effective toenail laser (Lasers Med Sci (2008) 23:349-353 comparing 7 lasers commonly used to treat nails) to treat toenail fungus. This particular spectrum of light passes through the nail without damaging it, yet kills the fungus living under the nail. This new approach to solving toenail fungus is more effective than topical treatment and without the side effects of taking pills. At the time of the procedure your toenail will not become instantly clear, but as it grows, the new nail will grow out normal as a result of the death of the fungus.
Sometimes, it can be treated through conventional therapies, like medication, ice, or physical therapy. It can also be treated through Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy. Many of our patients who are suffering from chronic Plantar Fasciitis are now experiencing relief and are completely pain-free after undergoing Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy, or ESWT. This revolutionary, non-invasive treatment delivers safe, focused “shock waves” to your heel. The shock waves cause microtrauma (a very small injury) to the tissues in your heel, allowing your body to being the natural healing process. This response helps blood vessels re-form and to distribute important nutrients to the heel, alleviating the pain.
